ProphylaxisProbes and X-rays are not reliable methods for early periodontitis detection. They only detect soft (probe) or hard (X-ray) tissue degradation once the disease has progressed. Because past occurrences are objectified, probes and X-rays cannot reveal the current state of tissue, whether that be healed, in arrest or acutely inflamed. An aMMP-8 detection test measures the onset of enzyme activity – a simple and sure way to diagnose an inflammation. The test can be integrated into the practice’s recall system to provide successful prevention, screening and monitoring of periodontitis. (Source: IDI-PARO) |
