Detecting inflammation – Rheumatic disease preventionIn Germany, about 1.3 million people suffer from rheumatic disease. Along with the inflammatorily activated osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is the most prevalent inflammatory joint disease. In contrast to healthy control individuals, the synovial fluid in patients with rheumatoid arthritis has an MMP-8 level elevated by a factor of 1000. MMP-8 levels in the gingival pockets of both periodontitis patients and rheumatic disease patients are elevated. Both diseases significantly support each other. An aMMP-8 early detection test measures the onset of enzyme activity – a simple and sure way to diagnose an inflammation. (Source: IDI-PARO)
